Start a SpeakPipe-style voicemail page

Looking for a SpeakPipe alternative you can set up for your show? This whatayarn template lets listeners record a message first, then add an optional name and email on the next page. They can send a message without creating an account, or type if they cannot use their microphone.

Use the preview above to see the form, then choose Use this template to make it yours. This is a whatayarn form template; it does not connect to a SpeakPipe account.

It starts with a compact, centred layout and orange buttons. You can change its colours and font and add your podcast’s own logo in the editor.

A short form for listener voicemails

The template has three questions across two pages:

  • Page 1: Your voice message. A required recording of up to one minute, with a typed alternative. Audio uploads start switched off so the form focuses on leaving a new message.
  • Page 2: Your details. An optional first name or nickname, and an optional email address so you can follow up outside the form. Listeners can leave both blank and send their message.

The thank-you page confirms receipt. There is no separate message title to fill in. If you want that extra context and audio uploads, use the broader podcast voicemail template.

Set up the template for your podcast

  1. Choose Use this template and add your show name to the heading. Replace the introduction with your invitation. Add your podcast’s logo using the controls above the form, and choose your colours in Customize.
  2. Keep the invitation consistent with the recorder. This template starts at one minute. Free supports up to one minute per recording; Creator supports up to ten. Change the length, upload option or typed alternative in the voice question settings.
  3. Preview both pages and edit the confirmation. Check that the recorder appears first and the name and email fields remain optional on the second page.
  4. Sign in to save the form and get its live link. Add the link to your show notes, podcast website or newsletter. For your spoken outro, use a focused invitation from our podcast call-to-action examples.
  5. Open the live link on your phone, send a test message and find it in Responses. Play and download the recording before inviting your audience.

Switch your listener message link from SpeakPipe

First download any SpeakPipe recordings and accompanying details you need to keep. Creating this form does not import those messages or change your old SpeakPipe voicemail page.

Once your new form is ready, update your website, show-note template, newsletter links and social profile. A link in an old episode can still send listeners to SpeakPipe, so allow time to check both inboxes while you change your invitations.

You can share the whatayarn page directly or embed it on a website that allows microphone-enabled iframes. A SpeakPipe dialog-widget installation needs replacing; pasting the new form link into the old widget code does not convert it.

Check the differences before switching

SpeakPipe  (opens in a new tab) provides hosted voicemail pages and website widgets. Its Free plan  (opens in a new tab) currently allows 90-second recordings, compared with one minute on whatayarn Free. SpeakPipe also supports voice replies  (opens in a new tab) when the sender leaves an email address; whatayarn does not provide a built-in voice-reply thread or audio transcription.
