Treat an incoming message as a contribution to review, not a finished segment. The recording, its context, and the sender’s expectations all matter.
Listen before selecting
Open Messages (opens in a new tab) and listen to the whole recording. Check whether it answers your prompt and whether it includes names, contact details, or other material that should not appear in the episode.
Read the form answers and the invitation you used. If the intended use is unclear, resolve that before publishing the contribution. Do not assume a recording can be used for every future purpose because someone sent it once.
Download the audio
Use Download audio in the message panel, or select messages for a bulk download. Keep the original file somewhere you can find it and create a separate working copy for editing.
A helpful production note records the message date, the episode or topic, and why you selected it. Avoid copying unnecessary sender information into shared production documents.
Edit in your own tools
Import the downloaded file into your usual audio editor. Check the beginning and end, volume, background noise, and the transition into your response. Listen again after editing to make sure the meaning is intact.
whatayarn does not automatically trim a contribution, mix it into your episode, or publish it to a podcast host. Those steps stay in your production workflow.
Keep a manageable record
Bookmarks help you find candidates in whatayarn. They do not replace your episode notes or an archive of files you have downloaded. Decide what you need to retain and delete material you no longer need with care.
Next action: Download one test recording from your inbox (opens in a new tab), import it into your editor, and listen through the complete transition into an answer.
