Every question can start with an answer. A default answer is the same for everyone. A pre-filled answer comes from a link and replaces the default for anyone who opens that link. Pre-filled answers and hidden fields are part of Creator.
Choose what people see
In a question’s settings, Display decides what respondents can do with its answer:
- Editable: respondents can change the answer.
- Locked: respondents see the answer but can’t change it.
- Hidden: respondents never see the question, but its answer is still saved. A hidden question is a hidden field. Type
/hiddenin the editor to add one.
Combine an answer with Display
Display works the same way whether the answer is a default or comes from a link. Some useful combinations:
- Pre-filled and Editable: suggest an answer people can correct, like their name from your mailing list.
- Pre-filled and Locked: show the table someone is sitting at, without letting them change it.
- Pre-filled and Hidden: save where a response came from, like a campaign or table, without asking.
- Default and Locked: show everyone the same fixed answer, like the event they’re giving feedback on.
Create a pre-filled link
In Share, choose Pre-filled. You can also choose Create a pre-filled link from a question’s menu in the editor. Fill in the answers you know, then copy the link, open it to try it, or create its QR code. Leave an answer blank to keep its default. Links use your published form, so publish changes first.
For a link per table, change the table answer and copy the link again. Create each table’s QR code the same way.
Next action: Add a hidden field called Table and create a link for your first table.
